The Lennox & Addington Historical Society would like to thank the Retired Teachers Association of Ontario for their recent generous donation to Allan Macpherson House. In this photo Society member and retired teacher, Sylvia Dopking presents a donation of $1,000 to Macpherson House at the Christmas Gala held on December 11th. Where a good time was had by all even before this welcome presentation.

Who Is Allan Macpherson?

Macpherson House was built on the banks of the Napanee River in c. 1826, when it was the first private home to the north of the river. It was the residence of Allan Macpherson, one of the most entrepreneurial and civic-minded citizens of early Napanee, with a finger in just about every pie.
